A Rambling Review of Our Week

One afternoon last week the boys wanted to play out on the back deck (excuse the way it looks, I have all of the pillows and cushions stored away for the winter).  It was a fairly nice temperature out even though it was cloudy so I let them go out. They took their army men, tanks, etc. out with them and had the best time for over an hour just playing right there by the back door. It makes my heart smile when they play well together with no arguing (which is not as often as I'd like these days).

February came in with a bit of a bang!  On Feb. 1st we woke up to a light dusting of snow.  It wasn't enough for the kids to stay home from school but it was pretty and certainly COLD.  So, Landen and I spent the morning wrapped up in a blanket by the fire place playing games.  It was cozy and fun!

We began this week by driving up to B.G. to meet up with my friend Echo to have lunch and spend a couple of hours at the mall.  It was a spur of the moment plan and it took a little convincing to get Landen out of his pj's and ready to go.  He had his heart set on our usual morning play time but once we got to the mall he was very excited to ride the little rides.  He rode every. single. one!

To make it up to him...on Tuesday we had an extra-long play time in Landen's bedroom.  We played trucks, tractors and diggers, Landen modeled his favorite ball hat, we hauled lots of cars all around the room, and we read tons of books.  After I read them to him, he would go back to the beginning and read them to me...precious!  Oswald was his favorite of the morning.

As you can probably tell...things have been pretty calm and quiet around here.  It's nice to enjoy before the hustle and bustle of baseball season begins.  Speaking of baseball, we are headed to sign-ups this weekend. Ethan is still enjoying his Super Saturday class at WKU.
Last Sunday we celebrated my grandfather's 69th birthday along with watching the Super Bowl and this Sunday we will celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday! Tomorrow Josh is taking off work all day and we are taking the day to celebrate Valentine's day  a little early by shopping, going to the gun range, hopefully catching a movie, and having dinner some place nice.  This afternoon Josh's grandmother will come over for her weekly Thursday visit...Landen can't wait!  He got his days mixed up this week and so he looked for her all day yesterday.  While they play, I'm going to run a few errands (I'm trying to gather supplies to make the Valentine's box that Ethan has requested) and pick up Ethan from school.  He is so excited about making this box...we found the idea on Pinterest.  Hopefully it is a success!
